Regarding the suggestion of crushing the
pills, you can't crush the Concerta because
it is a time released pill. It would
certainly change the effectiveness of the
medication if the entire day's dose was
released at once.
My son practiced swallowing with tic-tac
candies. Swallowing a fair amount of water
at once helps, and drinking from a straw is
counter-productive because of the way
sucking draws the cheeks together inside.
I can understand why he didn't like having
it shot to the back of his throat. That
would set off my gag reflex tremendously.
Keep practicing and he'll probably catch on.
