Hamburger Tasting Rubric

  quality: the meat has substantial texture, yet "melts in your mouth" quality: the meat is tender and juicy quality: the meat is moist, but not juicy quality: the meat is dry and gritty; pieces of filler may be detected
Meat size: the patty size and thickness are perfectly proportional to the rest of the burger size: the patty provides an adequate amount of meat in proportion to the rest of the burger size: the patty is either slightly too large or slightly too small for the bun size: the patty is thin and too small for the bun
  doneness: the meat is cooked perfectly to your requested doneness doneness: the meat is cooked within your specified doneness doneness: the meat is one level of doneness off of your order doneness: the meat is grossly over or undercooked
Preparation flavor: the meat is perfectly seasoned to compliment the other flavors of the burger flavor: the meat has good flavor that is detectable but not overpowering flavor: the meat either has weak flavor or is seasoned inappropriately for the burger flavor: the meat is either  tasteless or is overpowered by the seasoning
  quality: the bread is of the perfect texture to melt into the patty creating a unified bite with every taste quality: the bread is fresh and has a slightly crispy outside with a fluffy inside quality: equivalent of a fresh supermarket bun--not fluffy but not mushy, and not specially prepared quality: bread has poor texture and is dry, stale, mushy, and/or soggy
Bun size: the bun size is perfectly proportional to the rest of the burger size: the bun is adequately proportional to the rest of the burger size: the bun is slightly too small or too large for the rest of the burger size: the bun is obviously too small or too large for the rest of the burger
  quality: the produce is high quality, ripe, fresh, and adds a perfect juicy, crisp texture quality: the produce is fresh and crisp quality: one or more of the add-ons are not fresh quality: the produce is soggy, wilted, or mushy
  flavor: the produce tastes fresh and succulent; any sauces or condiments subtly support and enhance the flavor of the burger flavor: the produce and any sauces or condiments are good-tasting and add well to the overall flavor of the burger flavor: one or more of the produce add-ons do not taste fresh or add texture; any sauces or condiments are not complimentary to the other flavors in the burger flavor: the produce is flavorless, weak, and does not enhance the other flavors in the burger; any sauces or condiments are too weak or overpowering
Add-Ons balance/selection: all of the add-ons are perfectly selected to complement both the burger and each other in flavor and in texture, creating a unified mingling of different tastes balance/selection: the selection of add-ons is appropriate to the flavors of the burger and is nicely balanced in flavor so that no one taste stands out balance/selection: the balance and selection of the flavors is slightly off, with certain flavors standing out a little more than others balance/selection: the flavors are unbalanced (for example, the onions are overpowering); the selection of add-ons is odd, inappropriate, or untasty when put together
  aroma: the aroma is mouth-watering, enticing, and inviting aroma: the aroma is pleasing; no one aroma is overpowering aroma: aroma is either too weak or too strong aroma: the aroma is absent or smells very greasy, burnt, or unappetizing
