I’m thinking of something Game: CREATURES!

Directions: We are going to play the “I’m Thinking of Something CREATURES Game”. I will think of something and you have to think of what it is. I will give you hints to see if you can guess the object.

HAVE THE STUDENTS WRITE DOWN THEIR GUESSES ON A PIECE OF PAPER!

Object 1: Snake
• The thing that I’m thinking of begins with an s-s-s-s-s-s. What sound does my word begin with?
• This animal rhymes with rake.
• It doesn’t have any legs.
• They can sometimes rattle.
• Don’t let it bite you!

Object 2: Frog
• The thing that I’m thinking of begins with a /f/. What sound does my word begin with?
• It likes water.
• It also likes land.
• The thing that I’m thinking of begins with a /f/ and ends with a /g/.
• Would anyone like a nice juicy fly?

Object 3: Lizard
• The thing that I’m thinking of begins with a /l/. What sound does my word begin with?
• The thing that I’m thinking of begins with a /l/ and ends with a /d/.
• I also have a /z/ sound in the middle. Put it together and see if you can figure me out.
• I sometimes like to sleep in the sun on a rock.

Object 4: Spider
• The thing that I’m thinking of begins with a s-s-s-s-s. What sound does my word begin with?
• The s-s-s-s-s is teamed up with a p. The first part of this object makes the sound “sp” as in spaceship.
• The last sound of my name ends in /r/.
• I have 2 syllables.
• Do you have arachnophobia?

Object 5: Beetle
• The thing that I’m thinking of has the same first sound as the word ball. What sound does my word begin with? (/b/)
• The thing that I’m thinking of starts with a “b” and ends with a “l”.
• They come in many different shapes and sizes.
• You wouldn’t want to eat one of these.
• The thing that I’m thinking of starts with a “b” ends with a “l”.
• I have 2 syllables.

Object 6: Iguana
• The thing that I’m thinking of has the same first sound as the word igloo. What is my first sound? (/i/)
• I have 3 syllables.
• The thing that I’m thinking of begins with an /i/ and ends with an /a/.
• I am a cousin to Mr. Lizard.

Object 7: Centipede
• The thing that I’m thinking of begins with the soft “c”. What is my first sound? (ssssss)
• I have an “I” in the middle of my name.
• I have 3 syllables.
