Spelling and Phonics

1. What is a digraph?
A digraph is 2 consonants that work together to make one speech sound. Name some digraphs: th, ph, wh, sh, ch, etc
2. Can you think of any words with the f sound? (fish, fast, food, fries, etc)
3. Can you think of any words that have /ph/ in them? (phone, photo, graphic, geography, pharmacy, asphalt) What sound does the /ph/ make?
4. Can you think of any names that have /ph/ in them? (Christopher, Stephen, Phillip, Nicholas, Chloe)
5. Can you think of any words that have the /gh/ sound in them? This one is harder! (laughed) What sound does the /gh/ make?
